Medicare Plan Briefing at District Meeting.
I want to apologize to you all for having someone come in and not have all the answers to important questions concerning your health insurance. Although the Magic Insurance Agency, who was at the District Meeting on 30 Oct, sounded like they had all the answers, what they failed to mention is that the $100 reduction in your Medicare premium is for those veterans who have Medicare only, it does not apply to those of us who have Tricare for Life/ CHAMPVA.
The PPO handout that was handed out to the district meeting, please look at the 2022 Health Plan Benefits briefly, These plans are for those who do not have Tricare for Life or CHAMPVA. You will see that the $100 deduction in your premium is for MEDICARE ONLY, (see column headings on the attachment.
Tony Dixon, Department Insurance Committee Chairman, contacted Humana this morning and learned they do not advocate for veterans with Tricare for Life or CHAMPVA to enroll with this plan.
I am sure the brokers from Magic were not out to mislead anyone, but it appears that they may need training to understand when their program is applicable to Veterans or not.
